MicroTouch Rev Limiter needed for XP w/ Factory Pipe Spec 1?

Is a rev limiter needed when you install a Factory Pipe Spec 1 on a 96 XP? I don't have water injection or anything like that.
If it is needed, is MT REV SD Rave with a red backing the correct model?

i don't think its needed, but wait for confirmation from an actual wrencher
i'm 99.9 % sure when I had my spec1 before water injection that I had no aftermarket rev limiter.
added the REV LIM when I added water injection.

I have two MT REV SD Rave rev limiters. One has the red backing and one has the yellow. I don't see a difference other than color from the outside and I put them both in a bag with instructions that say they are for the 95 XP800 only. If you have read that the color makes a difference then please let me know.

Spim, you were hitting 60 before. To do that you must have been turning over 7 grand right? Well then my thought is then that you must have had a limiter in it to achieve that. You just got a new limiter because that is where they get the signal to control the electric solenoid. I have a larger MT limiter with the control for the water injection in it also. Confusing cause guess what the part number is?....MT REV SD Rave (same as the other smaller ones)

ya i was hitting 60 on the nose turning like 7050-7100 for a short while I had the external rev limiter, MT i think, then I traded a novi head to chuck for his controller/revlim that goes inside the box and sold off the MT last year, still pretty much maxed at 60-61 but I loved the mid range improvement with the injection.

not sure what your question is.. do you want my to pop the box and tell you what module I have ?
