I would normally tend to not sway from a shop manual.... but this is really got me wondering. I obviously have a 1996 gti with the 717. Now here is my issue. The shop manual in section 8 electrical page 154 regarding the mag system, tells me to use gun kote and to do a bake process. It also states its importance to do this process correctly. I called the local sea doo dealer and talked with service. I was seeking pointers and advice. They acted like I was crazy. I even went as far as to email them the page I was looking at. Their mech. said he has never heard of such a process. He looked at my emailed page and also looked at his most current manual. He said his stated nothing regarding gun kote. His conclusion is that I have an old version and that the processes must have been deemed unnessacary. I purchased the part off ebay and wondered why alot of the stators had been sprayed with what I thought was spray paint. Perhaps this is why. I am wondering if it was gun kote. Should I do this step like the manual tells me? Anyone with any bit of advice would be great!!!! Please help!:ack:
