Building a 96 XP retro sleeper able to run on pump gas. I have 44 mm carbs, spec II pipe with water injection. Definitely Need ECWI, R&D Nozzle reduction, ride plate extensions, Rec Head 43mm domes, Beach Haus Sponsons. I might be interested in a new or newer pump with X1 prop, UMI steering, Seat, floor mats, Hood.

I am at work but try to give you a call later. I used to work at Big Red back in the day, that's kind of funny. I was specifically looking for Beach House Sponsons more for the retro racing look. What are you thinking for the head? I am interested in the hood but don't necessarily need it. I may just buy a redone pump with a new X1 prop but I am definitely weighing my options as this build is getting pricier than I wanted it to be. That's neat about Big Red, small world. I had a carbon fiber GSX racer of theirs from 96 that restored and raced on tour 20 years later.
Beach House are great but they are just drying up. A used set goes for about 150 when you can find them. I have some pieces and parts if you run up on an incomplete set.
That head is pictured with new race fuel domes. If you want the good used 175psi pump gas domes with it then $265 shipped.
$125 on a nice Solas X1 or $275 for it in a nice pressure tested pump with a new OEM wear ring
$225 on that hood and it has a nice grommet and VTS gauge in it.

I have tons of other cool parts too. I build and sell these skis and ride them every chance I can.

As far as Big Red.....I bought my 96 XP out of there in 96 and my buddy bought his the same day. I ended up with his, he rode it that summer and I bought it that winter if I remember correctly. I did the deal for both skis over the phone. Basically the call was like this:


This was February 1996

Me: Do you have any 96 XP's?
Sales: Yes sir.
Me: How much for 2?
Sales: What do you want to pay?
Me: $6,000 each
Sales: We can do that, when do you want to pick them up
Me: This weekend?
Sales: OK
Me: Fax me a credit app.

DONE. I was on the phone for like 6 minutes. I still have all the paperwork, LOL....Kid you not even the faxed credit app and my payoff when I paid the ski off. It was 6 months same as cash, you can see that in the one slip, no payment due until September 1st 1996. That was the day I paid the ski off. That was the easiest deal I ever had to make. Do you recognize any of the names on the paperwork?

I can’t quite read the name of the salesman on the form. Back then there was. Billy, Tom Rick, Craig (that’s me), John Rathian was sales manager and Gabe was the GM, John Smeltz was the owner but I probably butchered his last name

Not going to lie, I want the Big Red head but I have no use for race fuel domes. I am trying to build a speedy recreational ski and hoping to keep it reliable. Because I am trying to amass so many old performance parts 265 is a bit much for me to spend at the moment. But I am going to keep it in mind.

On a different note I may be in for the pressure tested pump. I haven’t pulled mine yet, but it may just be easier for me to swap a fresh one in.
