Welp guys, I got a new issue. Ran my 96 xp for two laps around the lake friday july 3 with no issues at all: running like a dream. Was heading into port and it just acted like it ran out of fuel. The tank was full, I cleaned the in-line filter, tank guage screen, and the small pencil eraser filters in the carbs. She has new plugs, all the fuses in the black and grey boxes are good, and all the wires are hooked up and clean. It will turn over just fine and hit like it wants to start, but will not start and idel. Could anyone shed light on what may be going on here. I just got it out of the shop, and would really not like to take it back after 30 minutes of enjoyment.:(

My opinion is that it is getting fire and air...but little or no fuel. Turn the fuel selector valve to reserve and see if it will run. If so, clean the fuel selector valve,or spend 25 bucks at the Sea Doo dealer for a new one.

Well, that does make sense, but I put a little bit of gas into the spark plug holes and it still didn't hit and idle. It should at least run for a few seconds on that? I think it may be an ignition problem at this point. We had an inline spark test light on it, and it looked dim to me. (Usually when we test lawnmowers/small power equipment that light is bright). On the XP you had to look close to see the red light. What would be causing weak spark?

Try cutting the tie wraps off the plug wires remove the boots cut the ends of the plug wires for a fresh connection and put the boots back on. Also don't get to far away from the fuel selector valve. Good luck

being 96xp, i'd pull the mag cover off, and inspect the pickup coil. Possibly, the thing just hang'n around in there, cause of the bracket being broke.

:agree: pouring gas in the plug holes wont help with the idleing once the gas it burnt off it will stop. i would adjust the carbs to see if their out of sync.
