Hi,
I just got my 2007 4-TEC GTI SE yesterday. I spent a couple of weeks looking through the boat trader/Craigslist looking for a late model ski in 'excellent" condition. Anyone who's gone through this exercise knows that once you get to actually see the item in question, you are usually disappointed in the current owner’s definition of “excellent condition”.
Anyway, this SeaDoo I bought had 67 hours on it and was immaculate inside and out. There were a few scratches here and there on the outside, but other than that it was beautiful. Likewise the innards were perfect. Hardly any sign of corrosion or stains. No debris, no gunk, no loose parts.
Just one problem… the seat had a large tear towards the back end. The previous owner had it sewn together, and while it looks like a nice solid sewing job it sort of makes the seat look like a scar from Frankenstein’s monster. I called my local SeaDoo dealer seeing if I could buy a replacement cover, but apparently he only sees a replacement of the entire seat assembly (around $500).
So I am curious as to what others have done when their seats have torn. Will marine upholsterers be able to recover the seat, or is some other solution available? Thanks for any leads on fixing this.
