Intake grates, sponsons, impellars??

What do replacing any of the parts on a seadoo do for performance? I'm new to the PWC world and was curious what mods can be done and what each does for the ski. I have a 98 GTI and a 99GTX limited.

Intake grate will help you either get better top end speed, low end speed, and hook up better in chop for each different application. Sponsons are for handling purposes, and different pitch impellers can help you have a better hole shot, more top end, better acceleration, the difference in pitch will determine all of the above. Well, the GTX feels strong but seems lacking on top end...I dont' know what is normal for these but I believe it topped out around 57. The GTI feels really weak and only topped about 47 mph. I'm not sure if that is normal for these or what, but the GTI definitely needs some help all around and the GTX feels like it needs a little help on top end.
