Ignition beeps

Hey Guys, I have a 95 speedster and when I press the start button for either motor I get 4 distinct beeps, Also the oil light comes on. I bridged the oil sensor wires, as there is no oil in the tank. I am busy replacing all oil and fuel lines. When I tried again the light stays off but still get 4 beeps and nothing else happens. Any ideas??

4 short beeps (while pushing start button) shifter is not in neutral position, or bad neutral safty switch.

Thanks SHAKEDOWN. Never thought of that as the boat is on the trailer and have been workin on all the control cables. Yes it's currently in the reverse position. Will try tomorrow, or later tonight when it cools off a bit.
