So, I ran out of gas while flushing my jetski and the water ran a little too long before I could shut it off! Now my ski won’t turn on. I removed the spark plugs, started the ski and lots of water came out but not all of it. First of all, the ski will only stay on for about 4 seconds whithout the spark plugs so not all the water will come out on one shot. I have killed the battery a few times trying this 4 second method and I still can’t get all the water out. Do I need to disconnect some hose and drain it from the hose as well?

So when you crank a water flooded engine the water trapped in the intake manifold enters the combustion chamber through the intake valves.
The first step if you suspect a possible water flooded engine is to drain your exhaust and intake and if you suspect water in the intake manifold it needs to come off and drained. Download a service manual or take it to a dealer.

Water Flooded Engine

Never try to crank or start engine.

When can you suspect a water flooded engine:

1. Capsized for more than 5 minutes

2. Towing the watercraft faster the recommended

3. Flushing without the engine running

4. Anytime you have water in your intake manifold.
