having a bad day at lake start issue.

So my 2 96 xps ran great the first hour. Then one was taking in a lot of water I found out its from.rave valve on exhaust. Do just rode the other and now it just stopped starting. If will click from the soliniod n that's it so I swapped soliniods and same problem so I then hit the starter w a wrench and it will spin but never engage bendex. So I then leave it alone n go try it again. It does the same click so I hit starter and same thing it will just spin. Is my starter bad? So now I took rave exhaust n put it on my running ski and riding around pissed. Just trying to vent and see if anyone can help.

pull your starter off and take a look at the bendix,i had the same thing happen on memorial weekend the bendix on my starter gave out and it spun in both directions,the gear at the end isnt suppose to do that.i got lucky and found one on ebay for 13$ shipped and now my starter works again.if thats the case just look and see how many teeth it has and find the one u need.i actually had a 9 tooth but went back with an 8 tooth.if u recall a thread i started that u commented on bout a grinding noise i had i believe the extra tooth was snaggin my flywheel cuz it no longer does it.also i also made a thread on 50$ ebay starters(just in case u do need a new starter) it gave out that weekend to on my other ski lol but i was under the 1 year warranty so they offered me a new one but i took the refund.so u might wanna stay away from those but it could have been user error as a friend of mine put the battery cables on backwards
