We were attempting to load up at our local boat ramp... After a broken down boat pulling out and a house boat dropping in delaying everyone on the ramp for a solid 30 minutes and darkness falling in on everyone, my wife was next in line on the ramp.

Here is the before of the house boat:

A short 5 minutes later the fireball was a solid 30 feet in the air, the engine started for about 5 seconds and boom!

A couple of minutes later... Was fully engulfed.

If I had to guess, clearly it was an older boat.... Possibly had to do something with the steep slope of the boat ramp, leaking fuel from the carb or somewhere else not normally an issue. Hard to say for sure but this is not he normal ramp everyone uses because it's a pain. We have high water ramps when excessive rain floods the lower ramps. These ramps are a total pain but serve their purpose.

My wife said no one was injured, she was right there waiting for an opening. I have never seen anything like that and it will open your eyes on boating safety. Check your extinguishers, use your blower and any fuel leak is un-exceptable!
