I've had a starting problem that turned out to be the wrong Mpem, and due to the grey fuel lines still being fitted I thought that the filters were probably blocked, they were so I changed them.
On fitting a new hose to the fitting on the engine that then goes to the pulse on the carb, for some reason I decided to blow down it, I could hear air coming from somewhere?
After a little searching I've found a hole in the lower crankcase.
I'm aware that this may be caused by a failed con rod or bearing, but it seems a common problem.
I've not removed the engine to explore yet, but is it a common failure and not the crank?
Found a pic that I think is a similar problem.
