We have a strong x4 thread lets get a GS thread going with pictures. I need some inspiration with my new 96gsx after having a 96xp for the past 3 years. Post up your pics!

All my skis have under 130 hrs on them, all in mint shape, stored indoors, and washed after every ride!!!! I'm told all the time they look new!!! People are stunned they are over 16 years old

No doubt! Amazing how far simple maintenance and upkeep goes in preserving skis or anything else.
Keep it up!

My wife thinks some times I go to far, I Vacuume the excess water from the hulls, and towel dry as much as I can. The inside of the hulls are as clean as the outside!!! It's my OCD!!!! Lol

picked this up a few months back for 300 bucks, its on my "to get to list" water was left in the motor and it seized it up. its in perfect cosmetic condition, original everything, vts even still works.

it is, for the price i was just going to use it for parts, but its so clean i can't bring myself to rip it apart. i'm gonna mildly build it, nothing to expensive since all my money is going into my xp right now.

From race coarse to family fun. My 96 GSX is the ultimate "jetski" in my opinion.

So here is Lemonade. My first child. It truly was a lemon but now is pretty sweet! $500 including the trailer which I sold for $300. It was in a snow bank when I looked at it. Scrubbing, seat cover, turf, MPEM, carb cleaning, fuel lines, fuel float, vts motor, vts sensor magnet, battery, motor out to dump all the oil and fuel out of the bottom end, new intake shoe, new film in the info center gauge, new gauge fairing with homemade GSX decal, hood paint, etc. Has 150 PSI and can run 53 on a good day. And a blast to ride. Still needs some polishing during the coming winter. Lots of inspiration from LouDoo's GSX.

ski's look great... what color blacktip or hydroturf mats are you guys using? Im debating what color to do on my 96 gsx... Not sure if the blue mats will match the purplish blue color...

I had the exact same question. The 96 indigo is a really tough color to match. My hood was already spray painted when I got it with some horrible silver blue color. (see above pix) I tried to get it off with no luck. So I bought about 5 cans a paint and tried them all out. The best match I found was Valspar Premium Finish, Classic Royal Blue. It is not quite as purple, but it is closer to the color than any purple I found. So I sprayed the hood and handle bar shroud. Then with the mats I bought the Hydroturf mats with a diamond cut in deep blue (from PWC Muscle with 15% coupon hydro15). The color really not bad, but not really purple enough. So I held my breath and lightly sprayed the new mats before I installed them with the Valspar paint. It tinted them up quite a bit and I think they look good. It is holding up pretty good. I may have to respray them again over the winter. Not sure. Black would be the safest bet, but I like my blue ones. The hood deflector is Krylon fusion yellow. The saving grace with the color on the 96 is that the graphics are multi colored and the hull is mostly below the water or in the shade when it is on the trailer. Look at the decal around your fuel selector, it is blue and not indigo.
My seat is a blacktip with carbon fiber yellow and deep blue at both ends (not carbon fiber). I love it and it matches the other stuff pretty well.

wow it does look great... i was going to go blacktip mats, i loved the ones i put on my 96xp.... far cheaper then hydroturf but don't come in fancy designs.... JETSKIGOODIES has some nicely redone gsx's made me debate painting my rails and going black seat and hood.... You have me thinking twice....

I used the hydro turf blue on black cut groove. I think It looks great. I have it on my GSX and GSI.

In NC, you can tow tubes if you have mirrors on your ski without a spotter. Sometimes I need to pull tubes with both of them just to get them to our play area. I have a GTX for most of that towing, but am thinking about adding mirrors to my 96 GSX. I found a 98 GSX limited hood with mirrors for a decent price. I think this will work on a 96 GSX, but want to make sure. Anyone know?

I have black tip on my XP, not at all happy with the quality. The Hydro Turf I have on the GSX and GSI is far better, and worth the extra money. just my 2 cents.

Thanks I have a 96 challenger and a 97 xp to. All custom painted ill post the xp finished tonight. Did the paint and the garage myself so thank you for the compliment.
