Fuel baffle/tank removal 96 gti

I does anybody have experience removing the fuel baffle out of a 96 GTI (need to fix it) Not much room in there. it looks like I may have to remove the fuel tank is that true?

And I may have to remove the fuel tank anyway because I have to remove a couple screws holds the upper seats area to be reupholstered. Does the tank come out the front opening?

I think if you remove your storage box below the handlebars you can access it through there

I believe you need to move the tank forward on that model. Might require you to remove the vent tube so you don't stretch it as well as remove the fuel fill hose
