- Friendly Warning -

I talked to an experienced boater yesterday and told him all the stuff I have been going through, and he asked me "did you read your manual, in its entirety?'.

I said no, I just read the parts I thought were important, how wrong was I. I want to tell you that I read my entire manual yesterday, and I learned so much, I have been boating with my boat 1 year and 4 months, and never did I read the manual. I learned so much by reading my manual, I could have prevented so many things, like:

1. I learned how to actually use the "Choke"
2. How to grease my PTO and other things
3. How to maintain my Reverse Cable (can you believe this? I would have not broked it).
4. How to "boost" cranking power when starting the engine so it can start easily (can you believe this? wow how dumb of me)
5. How to clear and clean the "Jet Pump Water Intake" before going out.

What I wanted to share with everyone here is that if I read the manual, I think I would have prevented 90% of the things I did wrong and my accidents out on the water. Just my 2 cents.

Good advice. An ounce of prevention . . . . As the saying goes! A factory service manual is a must if you want to avoid costly mistakes by doing unnecessary repairs or incomplete service.

Thanks for the heads up. I will definately try to squeeze this important task into my week this coming.
