Hi all, starting to stress about my HX engine.

Just did a fresh rebuild .5mm over, bored and honed by a professional engine shop which i even double checked with my own bore gauge.
Used a WSM Platinum top end rebuild kit and rebuilt everything according to the seadoo shop manual
Rebuilt both carbs to spec.
Everything is else is stock
The first inital run in i added 500ml of oil to the fuel tank for the first tank of fuel as suggested by the shop manual.

Fresh rebuild showed 75psi in both cylinders, I thought okay everything needs a chance to settle in so i proceeded with the break in

The first 5 hours were broken in at idle using a jetski test tank.

The other 5 were done slowly ramping up to an aggressive riding style.

We are now at about 12-13hrs and still only getting 85psi holding the throttle at WOT whilst cranking.

I am using a cheaper compression tester, and i did think it could be out a bit, but i dont think it could be out this much.

The ski starts instantly.
Idles well, doesnt die and has load of power.
Everything FEELS good.

But the gauge says otherwise.

I have even done a wet test.. no different.
Im waiting for a mate with a snap-on tester, to see if there is any difference.

Does anyone have any thoughts?
Cheers, Shane.

Tester is bad but you never break in an engine idling it for 5 hours. The rings will never seat.

Carrying that over from my RC car days, alot of engines required idling for around 4 tanks of fuel, talk about boring

Not on skis, you will never seat the rings you want to heat cycle them. Run for 15 minutes then cool for 30 varying the throttle the entire time. 2 tanks of fuel, first half up to 1/3 throttle, next half to 1/2 throttle, next half up to 3/4 final half up to full throttle but don’t hold it there. Done.
