engine flushing

I just heard from family members who have our 05 RXT at the shore.. We purchased it used Oct 09 with 66 Hr on it. Since launching this summer it has been used weekly and performed perfectly.. Always used in fresh water.. The bike went to the shore a week ago,, This morning I heard that engine would not crank properly,, spark plugs were pulled and when engine is cranked water shoot out.. Once cleared out and plugs reinstalled it will run normal again.. The bike is getting fresh water flushed by hose connection on rear of bike by jet nozzle...

Is there more problems I should look for ?? I don't want to go to the shore if I don't have to but that is where bike is ..
