Dropped Cylinder One At The Lake Today

2002 GTX-DI was running great engine bogged down at quit. Started back died but eventually started running great again then died again. After that engine would run ruff and died. I took it to local shop to check it out and told me that the Direct injection was leaking and running the engine lean. Cylinder one 50 psi and cylinder 2 130 psi.

Should I just order a top end kit to repair the no compression issue?

Along with top end kit get new rod and crank bearings?

Just get reman engine?

Where do I need to get parts if I repaired the current engine or where to purchase reman engine?

Where would air be leaking from in the direct injection to allow the engine to run lean?

Thanks for your help

First you need to determine why it seized. Either lack of fuel or lack of oil. Bad fuel injector, bad oil lines, wrong oil, water ingestion?

Next you will need to have the cylinders bored and new pistons fitted. I recommend only OEM pistons in a DI.

You can't just replace crank bearings as you will have to get an entire reman crank. You might as well rebuild the balancer shaft too.

How many hours on the ski? A Seadoo 951 crank won't survive a new top end if it has much more than 150 hours on it.

It has 92 hours, used sea doo synthetic oil, new plugs installed this morning spark plugs after issue was dry didn't look like they had oil on them. No water was in the cylinders. Ever used full bore top end rebuild service?

I have used FullBore and he did a good job. The issue with the DI is that it is unlike any other two strokes and is a lean burn engine so it has much higher combustion temperatures. One of the best know seadoo mechanics in the industry couldn't get the aftermarket pistons to last and he determined it was due to the special and proprietary coating that only OEM seadoo pistons use. If it were my ski I would only use OEM pistons.

I know SBT cuts their heads to lower the compression to avoid this issue but to me that is a sloppy way to do it.

From the dry plugs sounds like you either lost fuel or oil.

I don't know if the previous owner used seadoo oil or not. I filled the oil tank this morning still full doesn't look like any was used. Can Fullbore install oem pistons or only aftermarket?

Not sure if they can. I would call and ask.
Sounds like the chances are good the PO didn't use Sea-Doo oil. (Oil filter probably clogged)
Need to get it apart and see what the extent of damage is.
If you just lost a piston and everything else looks good, I would just do a top end rebuild since it only has 92hrs.
Whereabouts are you in GA?

Lots of metal in there a magnet tied to a line should be able to retrieve the cylinder you dropped in the lake, good luck and happy fishing.
