Quick question !! Is the Dess post and the key the only two components that are married/matched to each other ?? Have an Xp that we lost the key too but i have a second matching dess post and key off my GSX i can wire in. Would that work ?? I would think so because if that wasn’t the case you wouldn’t be able to wire in new MPEM’s without having to get new keys and post....?

It wouldn't work simply swapping the DESS post, you still need to program the DESS key to the MPEM. If a person gets a new MPEM, unless it has the original programmed DESS key to go with it, they'll need to have one programmed or married to it.

And in order to program it you need seadoos software ??

GGuillot is correct, the key has a code embedded in it that can't be changed. The post just reads the key and sends the signal to the MPEM. The MPEM is what gets programmed to recognize the specific code for that key. The MPEM can remember 5 codes so if you have multiple skis they all can be programmed to take one lanyard as the DESS post and Lanyards have no memory, just the MPEM.
