I somehow misplaced the four flanged hexagonal screws that secure my cylinder to the crankcase.
Sea Doo sold me four replacements (M8 X 70), however, when I dropped them in the cylinder to secure them they seemed a tad short, so, I pulled one bolt from the other cylinder and sure enough that bolt was 1/4" longer and a tad wider than the ones I purchased.
The fiche reveals that the bolt is supposed to be 70mm, (about 2 3/4" long), the exact size that I purchased from a Doo dealer, however, when matched against a a 90 Doo and the one I removed from my 93 GTS, (about 3" long) the bolt it about 1/4" too small.
Moreover, the bolt only screws in about 4-5 threads. Do I have a problem?
Can I just use a non OEM bolt that does not have the shoulder and say the heck with it?
The dealer told me that the OEM bolt has a shoulder that is custom fitted for the head, thus he suggested I do not use a bolt that does not have the shoulder.
