Cylinder bolt size?

As I was taking the head off my XP the other day, I broke one of the bolts that goes around the cylinder. It; snapped off down, below the surface, so I need to try to extract it this weekend. But, if I have to drill out the bolt, does anyone know what size the threads are in the jug? I've never used a helicoil before, but have heard good things about them, so I might have to go that route.

Also, do you know the specs on the bolt hat came out/broke off? I need to find at least one new bolt, but these are weird, how they are thinner in the middle, kind alike the head bolts on my old car.

What year/motor is your ski?

Which bolt did you break? Head/cover to jugs, or jugs to bottom end?

It's a '96 XP. I broke the bolts that hold the head/cover on.

After I posted, i found a set on EBay for $15, just kinda leary of used head bolts, since they stretch, and who knows how many times they have been off/on the Doo.

I'm with you... I usually throw the whole set away if there is a lot of corrosion, or in cases where one breaks.

Just bought some of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/121224148856?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649.

Not sure how many this guy has left, but the price is good for OEM stainless. BTW - that bolt is an M8 x 70, the thread pitch is 1.25, and it's a flanged hex bolt. Pro-bolt has these in a 10 pack (polished stainless, better than OEM) for a great price: http://www.probolt-usa.com/stainles...ged-hex.html?length=254&thread_washer_dia=164

They also have the bolts in titanium... natural, blue, gold, or purple: http://www.probolt-usa.com/titanium/titanium-bolts-flanged-hex.html?length=254&thread_washer_dia=164

$20 buck a pop... How that for "pimp my motor!"
