crank selection

Hi, I just bought a 97 gsx limited. It has the 951 motor. I need to replace the crank shaft. This is the 5625 model and the manual says the part number for the crank is 290887760. I have found a crank from a 98 gsx limited, model 5629 (951 motor). This cranks part number is 290887762. What are the differences in these 2 cranks ? Will the 98 work for me ? I know sometimes a different part number can be because of a very minor change that is actually an upgrade and the newer number can be a better part than the old one. Im hoping this the case here. anybody know ???

The 951 crank from 97.5 and up CARBED should be the same crank. The updated part # is 421000711 and is roughly $443. To compare (not really a comparison in quality) a remanufactured SBT crank is $375. For me it's an OEM crank only, not interested in someone rebuilding mine with cheap bearings just to save a few bucks.

And once you add shipping to that SBT crank it will cost close to the OEM one.
I would also recommend you rebuild the balancer shaft too.
