I am a new member and have recently acquired a 94 spx. I have a bad bearing on the center of the crank. I have read all that i can find on this forum on this topic. I will rebuild this myself. I will not purchase a rebuilt on. Not to be rude but if your answer is buy one or take it to someone please do not respond to this, I appreciate the help though. I want to do this myself.

Moving on, I would like to here other peoples experience on this. The shaft is pressed together, it is not twisted and seems to be in good condition. I have marked the shaft for reassembly. Does any one have any life exp on this.

Thanks all for your knowledge and support.

my 2 pennies

going out on limb, but if anyone had this type of problem, think the easiest route would be to purchase a new crank assy...reason..takes some b****en machinery to break apart/re assemble the crank, let alone center eveything where need be....good luck

I just like to gather as much info as possable before i start. I am a redneck, if it can be done, i'll do er

Thanks for the luck.

dont know if ya tackled the job yet, but good luck
ive have done two stroke single cranks with ease
i dont think you can get a part # for the center bearings from brp
you might have to source out the bearings from after market suppliers
i dont know if the end bearings are the same or not, hmmmm?
any way you will need a bunch of special tools to try to do the job
ya need a press, some bearing blocks and a dial gauge/ run out gauge
just to start with, some bearing supports and wedges might be needed.
if you dont get the crank proper and true, this will cause some serious issuses
i know you dont want to hear it, but a sbt rebuild crank is the best choice.
2-3 hundred me thinks?
good luck
