Correct coolant pipe connection

I have a 97 GS that I need to confirm the correct inlet coolant hose connection. I have two manuals that seem to show different connections. Two large hoses, one from garden hose (flush) connection and one from the jet pump. Which one should be connected to the inlet to the head and which to the outlet? The head has two ports, one with an arrow in and one with an arrow out. I had engine work done a couple of years ago and it has not been run much since then but last weekend I got worried because there was very little flow from the small drain on the back of the ski (next to the tow loop). I hooked to a hose today and flushed and there was not any obstruction there or to the other exit in the exhaust port. Appreciate any help.

The one with the arrow out goes to the garden hose connection. The on with the arrow in comes from the pump.
