Hi I’m new to the forum. I recently pulled the motor from my challenger 180 to do a supercharger pto gear replacement. When trying to align the motor using the alignment tools I’m not able to get the shaft carrier that attaches to the support plate into position. The drive shaft tube that come out of the hull of the boat has what look like a brass bearing that is preventing the shaft carrier from fitting into place. Can I remove that brass bearing to do the engine alignment? Ive attached a photo of the brass bearing in the shaft that come out of the hull.
Thanks for the help
Dan

The obstruction in the tube coming out of the hull is a brass bushing not a bearing , the driveshaft slides through this bushing. Sorry i hope thats a little more clear.
