On my 2000 gtx ME my carbon seal looks like it moves. I was told it was normal on this ski. I dont believe it leaks water but just seems strange to me. Can someone confirm please. Also I have video but it won't let me upload it. The side near my hand is the one that has some play

Of course ! The carbon seal and boot does move if pulled back or pushed to the side.

The stainless carrier rings surface meets the carbon ring forming a flush seal to prevent water from entering the machine while it runs, etc. The boot is what has pressure and which seals the stainless carrier to the face of the carbon seal.

If you notice water leaking in it could be caused from the boot, clamps, and/or seal being misaligned or warn out!

I hope my answer has helped you out!
