Can you help me by taking a DC volt reading of the starter relay/solenoid?

Inside the electrical box, the starter solenoid has 2 posts. The battery side and the engine side. With the battery on, and the key not on the post can you measure the engine side post, grounded to the negative terminal on the battery and let me know what the voltage is?

I know that the battery side post of the starter relay will have whatever voltage the battery has.

Also, with the battery on and the key not on the post, can you turn your lights or the blower on or are those accesories 'dead' when they key is not on the post.

Many many thanks.

Sorry cannot help with the voltage reading as the battery is out of the boat and it is all tarped up for the winter. But the lites and the blower work as soon as you switch on the main disconnect switch without a key on the post. This is the way it is on my 2005 sporster le di.

I have a 2001 Sportster LE.

1. Without pressing the start button, there is no voltage on the starter side of the solenoid. That is what the solenoid does.
2. As long as the battery switch is in the on position, the lights, blower, and lights work.

Here is the systematic for the electrical system.

Perfect, thanks very much! For some reason, all my accessories and mpem were wired to the starter side of the solenoid...and they did not work! I rewired them to the battery side of the solenoid and they all work now. I just bought this boat a few days ago in a 'non-working' condition.
