I'm possibly looking at getting one in the next season or two and I'm curious to see the differences between those and my 787 GTX.

How is the gas usage?
Maintenance?
How much different is the ride and how does it take the waves? (yours is obviously a lot heavier)

I'll add more if I think of them.

I have an 09 215. I get 6 hours to a tank of gas (16 gallons). Maintenance is the usual except the supercharger needs a rebuild every 100 hours, which for me would be every 3 years. Not a big deal for the performance the machine delivers. The ride is awesome, probably because it is heavy. Even with two big adults and one kid it still flies. Really happy with it.

Plus you are going away from having to buy a battery every year, you are not having to replace spark plugs all the time and you are not having to worry about having to go buy oil all the time. The advantages of a 4-Tec include. No winterizing (215 you have to take a hose off but thats it), batteries last on average 2 to 3 years, oil changes are every 75 to 100 hours or a season which ever comes first, spark plugs on average are 2 to 3 years, Heavier hull for a better ride, and a lot more speed when you want it. Find a friend that has one and take a ride. The 08 or 09 RXT-X 255 HP is an amazing ride.

How much to rebuild the supercharger? It'd be every 2-2.5 years for me.

6 hours to a tank is pretty good - that at a steady cruise I'm guessing (I ask because that's what I do most of the time - 30-35 mph cruise up and down the bay and it's more than my 15 gallon tank gets me).

Is the handling a lot different?

I really appreciate the input guys, keep it coming.

The handling is going to be a big increase from your model. A normal rebuild is going to be around 400-700 depending on who you take it to. I normaly cruize about 40 to 45 MPH. Remember you are using less RPM's to go 30 to 35 on a 215 or 255 then you would be on your 97

And engine rebuild itself would be the same as a regular four stroke about? And in the same lifespan - like 10 years?

Yes, provided you do the recommended maintenance. They should last a long time. I have many friends with early 200x models that are very happy with their performance and longevity. That's why I bought this one. The supercharger makes the thing fly...it's awesome.
