Broken motor mounts.

Yesterday my ever reliable ski let me down. I was out riding with a friend who's new ski has a speedo, not like my HX. He rode along side me to see what my top speed was but the ski wouldn't accelerate without missing. It felt very underpowered all of a sudden. We had been jumoing big waves for about 1.5hrs and getting a fair bit of air. I parked up on the beach and lifted the hood. For some reason I pulled on the exhaust and the whole exhaust side of the motor lifted right up out of the ski. futher investigation found the 2mounts on that side have separated.

My questions are;

Would the broken mounts cause the motor to run badly? or do I have other problems.

Will wave jumping cause an early death for my HX?

Is there an upgrade for the engine mounts?

Thanks in advance.

Matt. Motor mounts do break, especially if you ride rough. If they have not broken before you've done good, they've lasted 11 years.

Only problem here is when they do break it could knock your engine out of line with the drive shaft. Might vibrate real bad and lose some power. Do not run it like this. It will break more things than you feel like fixing.

I would buy all new motor mounts, and realign the engine. Check out our parts link in the top of the page and they will hook you up. :cheers:

Early years I found myself repairing broken motor mounts.

When they seperate from the rubber. I drilled holes in the top metal disc.
Then countersunk for screws.
Superglue the disc and screw then drive it home.
Much stronger than the original idea.

I JUMP WAVES EVERY TIME IM OUT. Love it.
Its a waste of gas when its flat.
