Bleeding small oil lines

I have the carbs off (95 spx) as I am cleaning the fuel filters. I have bought the 3/32 line that I need since my old oil lines are starting to get brittle. I have read how to bleed the lines from the manual (without throttle hold the oil pump wide open and start engine until lines are filled) but can I do this without the carbs being on. I do not see a problem since the carbs being off will not mess with the timing and as long as the spark plugs are grounded I should be good right? I do not want to mess anything up. With the carbs being of it will be easy to tell if the lines are full. Thank you for your help.

There are a couple ways to do this. Some people use a drill to spin the oil pump, that way you don't burn-up your expensive starter (It will take quite some time, even while holding throttle / oil pump wide open). The last ski I changed the lines on, I just pre-mixed a couple gallons of gas at 40:1, and went to the lake. Once the lines were properly primed all the way, I filled the tank up with straight gas and kept on riding. I will do it that from now on as in my opinion it's the easiest way, and keeps the ski safe. I also always add some oil to the tank regardless, just in case something goes wrong with the oil injection, I will have enough time to save the motor.

The easiest way is to get the new lines on and get the carbs back on. Dump about a cap full of oil in each carb/intake port and a little fuel to prime the engine then start it and hold the oil pump lever wide open. It actually primes very fast and since there is no load on the engine you will not damage anything.

Thank you guys. I will mix up some oil and gas in a shot glass and pour a little down the throat. It this doesn't prime it I will go with the premix but currently have a full tank. The ONLY time a full tank is a bad think

I took a syringe and filled my lines with oil before putting them on the oil pump. Very easy and nothing to worry about.

When I change them next time I think I will do that. It crossed my mind (the sponge idea is smart) but they are so tight I did not want to try and force it one when I have oil all over my hands. I poured some oil down the carb along with gas and smoked the garage out. Wife is not happy but now my living has a nice two stroke smell...nothing better
