Bad fuel selector valve?

Hey all - long time no see. Hope you all are doing well in these COVID times. Me? I'm still paddling my 96 single-engine Seadoo canoe. Its a Challenger with 787 engine. I need some advice.

I just had carbs cleaned in and still having what I think are fuel issues. Prior to the carb rebuild the engine would not idle. It would fire off and run for a sec or two and then die. It sure seemed like a fuel starvation issue to me. Carbs are now cleaned, installed new plugs and engine idles fine but has low power, will only do 10-15mph. Attempting to go to full power will bog down and die. Both cylinders compression check at 130psi

My boat tech tells me my fuel selector may be restricting fuel to the carbs. He recommened I check this by temporarily bypassing the selector. I can blow thru the supply line and get bubbles in the tank but it does require a little effort and does not seem like a free path. Have you all seen the fuel selector create a problem in restricting fuel to the carbs?

Bad fuel selectors are a very common source of air leaks. To test take the RES line from the tank and run it directly to the carb to bypass the fuel selctor and fuel filter

+1 for Mraw's idea I would simply eliminate the fuel selector by running a direct feed to the carbs. it will be a quick way to rule out the fuel selector.

Good call, thanks for the responses. I did a search and found several references to faulty selector valves. Clearly, just being able to blow thru the line in the RES or ON position doesn't eliminate the selector as being bad. I bypassed the selector and need to run it down to the water to test.

Does anyone have the correct PN for the fuel selector on a 96 Sea-doo Challenger? I want to be sure I get the correct one.

EDIT - found as 275500098 for boats made in the US with plastic tank (aluminum tank models are 275500088)

I am wondering if I can take the res line to the fuel filter? I have some worry about crap in my tank and don’t want it to go into the carb.
