99 gsx limited carbed gauge stays powered up

i have a 99 gsx ltd and when u pull the lanyard off the gauge stays powered up which also kills battery and adds mega hours to the hour meter any suggestions also when u put the lanyard back on the two short beeps are heard and then the ski runs awsome, then u stop and pulll off cord and every thing stays powered up

Check the Rectifier module, got water in rear box?

Also clean & dielectric grease all connections & fuses-holders. Go over harness for
any broke wire, Clean & DG all amp plugs & pins.

i was told to unplug the stator and see if it went out and i did that but still stayed on, for now i have been unpluging the mpem so i dont kill the battery, it is at the cottage i will go over it as soon as i can, the rear box looks real clean and dry,thanks for replying any info is and will be greatly apppreciated
