Hello, I'm new to these forums so please bear with me. I have two (2) 97 GTX and both have a lot of water in the engines (Garden hose up the exhaust pipe-don't ask). I have one craft with engine out torn down to the block, sitting upside down drying. Should I do a top end rebuild or do I need to brake the crank case open. Any advise would be helpful. THANKS!

Hello and welcome,

if they got water in them and you did not get them started shortly after (like an hour), then your bearings and vital parts in the crankcase are damaged and probably rusted. Most would say the best way to handle water ingestion is to pull the plugs (right after it happens) and crank the engine over and let water spray out the plug holes, then put the plugs in and get it started any way you can so it can burn the rest of the moisure out and let fresh oil/gas in. In order to completely get the water out from the crankcase, you would have to take it for a long ride. Like 30-60 mins at least. In your case, it sounds like a complete rebuild is in order.
