97 gtx charging anomaly

97 gtx charging question. Got everything back together after changing the starter. Starts and runs at 3,000rpm on the hose. My volt meter is indicating 13.2 volts at the battery. Not seeing anything higher than 13.3vts no matter the rpm. Checked the red wire out of the regulator and I’m getting 14.5volts when back probing with engine running. Pulled the fuse back by the starter selenoid. Checked for amp draw with and without the front 15 amp fuse pulled. Engine draws 1amp when running, and when I put the front fuse in I see 7 amps charge. So why the voltage drop at the battery? Is it just because it’s pulling 7 amps? Looks like max amperage output per the book is 5 amps 6,000rpms.

I plan to take the lithium battery out tonight, put a charged AGM back in and see if i get any different results. If not, i'm going to back track the regulator output wire and see where the voltage drop is occurring.

Circling back to this post. I reinstalled the AGM battery last night. It was freshly charged. Had 13volts static. Started the machine on the hose, and instantly went to 14.4volts at the 3,000rpms idle. So something with the lithium battery was drawing down the system. Very odd. I had the ski on the water last night, no issues starting, and the voltage was always in the low 14volts when above 3,000 rpm. I'd recommend keeping the AGM in these older skis.

Case closed.
