I just got 2 97 gtx's and one of them is bogging down, slow to get up to speed and wont go as well as the other. runs better on rough water. the bumps let something happen. I am thinking plugged fuel filter. anyone seen this

First question everyone will want to know. Have the gray fuel lines been changed an the carb filters and fuel selector knob been cleaned? If the fuel lines and carbs have been addressed, you could try running on reserve to see if you have a fuel restriction in the selector switch causing your problem.

As I am new to this I haven't done anything yet. I just got them Friday. I am mechanical and have a shop so can do things as needed. I take it by changing the gray fuel lines that the rubber in them deteriate over time and if they are black they have been changed. are the filters for the carbs internal or external. I looked at a parts list and it looked like they are inside, do you have to remove the carb to do it?
Thanks for any help.

The carb filters are internal so the carbs will need to be pulled to get to them. If you still have the gray fuel lines, that is probably your problem. Do a search on gray fuel lines and you will find alot of info on what to do. I just replaced them on mine but had a mechanic do the carb work and he put new diaphragms in. Was out this morning and hit 56 with me and my son on it.

Thanks for the help. I will check the gray fuel lines. I think about 45 to 50 is as fast as either of mine will go. 30 to 40 on the one bogging down. The faster one the speedometer is broke (digital and analog) the other the gas guage is broke so it flashes low fuel with the alert light flashing. I don't think either of them have ever had anything done so I am guessing they have the grey fuel lines still. They both have right at 200 hours on them. if you have thoughts on the speed and fuel guages let me know.

when replacing the grey fuel lines are you just getting fuel line at the parts store or is it something from a seadoo dealer?
