Beeper horn may be bad. Out of the three skis I've had, two beepers have been replaced. Unhook the beeper connector and hook up an ANALOG meter set to read voltage on the connector for the beeper. When you put the dess key on, the needle should raise twice. How much voltage doesn't matter, just that you got an analog signal. If you get the signal, get a new beeper horn. Hope this helps.

ty blkyrbart for quick reply. issue is deeper than the beeper. I get a weak attempt of a beep when i unplug and then reconnect the wire harness to the ecm/mpem. I had local shop attempt to program a new fob to no avail. wouldnt marry/program. they said its an electrical issue but without "other testing" they couldnt say exactly what. I prodded the service manager and he said "most likely" the ecm.

Let's back up to the beginning. last week i get this ski in.... put a battery in it, put the key on the poist (dont recall beeps if any) hit start button and it spins over, compression checks out good. I call the owner with the good news and he says great, can you rebuild the carb? i say sure. Two days later i attempt to start the ski just to see what im working with before removing the carb. put key on the post... NOTHING! no beeps. no cranking. nothin. i proceed with troubleshooting DESS and stop/start circuits. and here we are.

i bought and installed an aftermarket ecm. supposedly plug and play. no need to marry with the dess key. no change. no beeps. no solenoid click. nothing. any ideas?
