After having caviation problems, I am in the process of examining the wear ring. There is a gap of about 1/8" between the impellor and the ring. From what I have read this is too much. The impellor looks like it may have slight damage too. Two of the three blades have slight bends on the inside of the blade. I am not sure of the best way to remove the impellor without the seadoo tool. Any opinions or suggestions?

Yep I just got the tool online for 10 and used it last nite.I would not use the drive shaft. my impeller bolt was supper tight. you could possible twist you drive shaft or bend it.

Thanks guys, I will get one. Does it sound like the clearance between the impellor and the ring is too much?

yes, 1/8" is too much. On my 97 SPX, the service manual limit is 0.040"--after I replaced mine, the gap was ~0.015".

Awesome, I hope this will fix the problem. The engine really sounds good, it just won't jump out of the water. Thanks for all the help. I'll let ya'll know the outcome.
