Hi all!

I am new to the forum. I have a 97 GS that I am having intermittent running issues with while on the water. My ski will fire up no problem, and scoots out to the lake with no issues. It’s once I am on open water with the throttle down the ski will just all of a sudden shut down. No bogging down at all. Just completely dies. I wait about 30 seconds and the ski will fire back up. I am good for about 2 minutes, then the same thing will happen. This continues for pretty much my whole weekend which sucks.

My question to you all is, is my DESS post failing? I have read plenty on that subject which leads me to believe that could be the problem. If not the post, is there another underlying issue that I am missing. Any help would is greatly appreciated.

I had the same thing happen last year on a friend's 1997 XP. Replaced the DESS post and was fine.

Firstly, glad I'm not the only owner of a 97 GS. I have never seen another one on the river or lakes we go to. And my other ski is a 97 XP... I guess I'll keep an eye out for this issue.

I've got mine in the garage and ready for paint. It's supposed to be 70 here tomorrow so I'm going to spray it. I've got the hood prepped and the gas and oil caps are already primed. I'll be posting pictures on here, so check back in a few days. Good luck with yours.
