96XP barley runs in water

Start quickly and runs fine on trailer, hard to start and really doesn’t even run unless jacking with throttle in the water. Seems to bog down. Been sitting for 6 years. New plugs, all new fuel lines, filters checked and cleaned, fuel selector cleaned. Doesn’t make any difference position of fuel selector (reserve or on) for symptoms. Rave valves cleaned and new gasket, oring and bellows installed. Compression 146 & 144. Carbs cleaned new kits installed, pop off valve psi check within limits. Disconnected red wire on rectifier and did not change symptom.

What do you have the RPMs set at when running out of the water, they should be between 2800 and 3000.

Load test the batery,,,the fuel selector cannot be cleaned, by-pass it and see if helps....could also be a failing coil,

That’s one thing I have not done, do you have a recommendation for a tach checker? Thanks
