Trying to help a guy get his 96 XP running correctly. He sent the carbs off to be rebuilt. I checked the carbs and looks like the guy did a good job on them. Ski has a bog so bad it won't take any fuel. Can't get over 1700 RPM. I put an alternate bottle for fuel and the ski still would not accelerate... this was out of the water. I"m wondering if the rotary valve is leaking by. Wondering if I should go into the carbs. Thoughts??

You’ve got another running 787 ski don’t you? Swap the carbs from that ski and see if the problem stays. That will at least confirm or rule out whether it’s a fuel problem since you’ve got an isolated fuel source coming from the bottle, all for the cost of a couple of base gaskets...

I don't ever take parts off a running ski or another ski to troubleshoot. I'd rather pull the carbs off the ski and go through them myself but I think it's out of time. I'm actually buying the ski from him now. I'm gonna pull the engine and throw the ski away. I need the engine for my super hopped up 96 XP. I'll take it apart and have a look at a few things before it goes in the XP. :D

On a side note, I gotta find this guy that does dual carbs for $170. Looks like he did some good work to me. Unless he missed something in which case I will change my mind. Ha ha.

I’m sure you’ve seen in my thread that I’m chasing all kinds of ghosts on my 96XP. I sure wish I had a second set of 40’s that I could have thrown on it several weeks ago. It might have saved me quite a bit of time and money troubleshooting... I wound up buying a whole new set of carbs, and I’m still not sure that’s the problem until I get them here and installed.

Those Buckshots are some nice expensive carbs, don't let @Matt Braley see all these performance parts you are getting, LOL.

Matt already saw the set up a month ago and yes.... he liked them. :) The performance parts are on the ski that needs an engine. :) 30 psi on the PTO cylinder and it was locked up. I still may build an engine for it.

I was just joking about Matt, I know he lives for those old performance parts.
