I have a '96 Seadoo XP with a fully rebuilt motor built by Perry Performance Group in Florida.
This was sent to me via the previous owner:
Motor was rebuilt with all OEM parts
The crank is an OEM crank that PPG trued, welded, and balanced
The Head was cut for 175 p.s.i. and 55th Squish
Carbs were rejetted, added a primer, then they drilled in the fuel delivery circuits, as well as taper bored the inside diameter then topped off with Prok? filters.
Factory Pipe spec II with mircotouchwater injection and Rev. LimiterThe pipe is hard jettedat 120 head pipe, ? mid pipe, and 120 water box.
I checked compression in both cylinders and still get 175p.s.i. in each. When I rebuilt the carbs they both had 155 main jets in them, and I called PPG and they told me to put a 170 main jet in the rear and a 160 main jet in the front carb. Then after, turn the Low speed screw 1 - 1 1/4 turn and the High speed screw 1/4 - 1/2 turn. I did this and the ski runs amazing with the seat off getting enough air in the air filters BUT when I put the seat on, it starts, launches great right off the bat, then when I release the throttle and try to throttle back up it doesn't want to go. Sometimes it will go when playing with the throttle a bit and hit high RPMS but its hit or miss. please HELP!!!
Also note, the driveshaft drizzles water into the hull and when running sprays mist everywhere. I think this might be my problem???
Do I need to decrease the jet sizes now or what? I know alot of performance PWC's use different size jets in each carb but are mine (jets) backwards or do I need to step them down in size? Also the seadoo smokes more than it should.
