96 xp backfires? no start

i have a 96 xp that will not start.when it turns over it just backfires?sometimes it will not beep are anything and acts as if the batterys dead,all the fuses are good,batterys good,i just replaced the starter bendix and ring gear,not it just back fire,

hey...has the carbs been cleaned/rebuilt? Did the RV ever get removed, possible, its off on the degree settings?

i know the rotory valve came off we set it back to the marks is ther an easy way to verify timming

i also swapped the front electrical box and dess.it still backfires thru the exhaust.is there a simple way to verify rv timming
