95XP wont start with plugs in place.
I have just had the same problem with my 95 XP.I bought the ski about a month ago from a guy who imports from the USA. I bought the ski along with another 96 SPX. The skis where bought in good faith and I have had a hell of a time trying to start them both. Both skis had not run for 2 years going by the hull regos. The XP would only crank over with the spark plugs removed at first. When I tried to turn it over with the Spark plugs in place it would only just turn over very slowly.
I found after I removed one plug it would start quite easily. The engine was stopped and started a few times to warm it up and I tried to put the plug back in it would stall. I eventually let the ski run for about 5 mins with water flushing through the system, and rightly or wrongly whilst the ski was still running I managed to screw the spark plug back into the top of the engine and reattach the spark plug lead. The ski ran for a while then I turned it off. I let it stand for a while and started the ski again with both plugs in place. The engine started as it should first time, I went through this process several times, stopping and starting the engine, problem seems to be fixed. Be aware when messing whilst the engine running, there is still electric current flowing through the unattached spark plug lead, the open spark plug hole is expelling unspent fuel, and there has to be some precautions in place. Best to wear some personal PPE, Safety glasses, long sleaved shirt, or coveralls, rubber gloves to handle the spark plug and lead, and rubber handled spanners for tightening the spark plug in place. Because you are dealing with unspent fuel from the combustion chamber have a fire extinguisher handy or a charged water hose. I am not a mechanic but am mechanicaly minded so will try to solve mechanical problems myself. What works for me might also help you.I hope the info is usefull, and you can get your ski going again.
