96 gtx 787 stator question

can someone tell me if my stator do something else execpt charging the battery on my 96 GTX? My stator past out, I will remove it and install a new one in fews days. Except of that I need to charge my battery by myslef once a week, my gtx run very well... Is that normal..?? ;-p
I read a lot on how to replace it, i'm medium in mecanic, how many hours I can expect?

It's typically the voltage regulator that goes out not the stator.

Ohm it out with a meter before you tear your engine apart, you could be making extra work for yourself.

Hello, thanks bot of U, I replace the rectifier, no luck if its not. I test the sator and 2 phases are out...
stator JOB....
my question is: the stator only feed the batterie for charging? nothing for spark plug or anithing else???

My understanding is the battery pretty much starts it, the stator runs it. Like a car, you can disconnect a battery once engine is running and it will keep running because the alternator keeps the power there?

The motor ignition, vts, etc,,,run off the battery, the regulator charges the battery,,,you could actually run the ski right off the battery for a short time before it falls on its face.

So its normal that my ski run all good for few ride, and the battery loose power only at ignition? I was thinking that the stator do something will riding.
I try to find something else than my stator
I will open up this weekend.
