So just finished putting the doo back together after swapping the fuel lines out, when I first turned the engine over there was a spark round the return valve of the Carb, now says 12v lo it did turn again (no spark this time) but then made w clicking sound and displays 12v lo on info centre, any ideas what caused the spark and if the bat is kaput?

Double check all your grounds, put a voltmeter on it and see what your bat voltage is. Its possible your starter is staying engaged and acting like an alternator. I've had that happen on 3 boat motors. 1 caused a fire. Also check all your connections for corrosion and make sure they are tight. Especially the thick cables. Take the ends and give them a 1/4 turn twist. If they break off or have white powder coming out of them, you need to replace the ends.

Check all fuses and report back. If you still have a hot battery, you'll have to perform a parasitic draw test.

how do i check if the starter is staying engaged? all terminals etc are clean and have been double/triple checked now, fuses seem fine

what i have noticed is though, i checked the fuel lines against a guide on here and for some reason my return was connected to pulse and fuel in to return before i changed the hoses and im 99.99% sure i didnt get them mixed up, so the spark is actually at the pulse side of the carb

All solved now thanks for the help birks, turns out the negative terminal was stupid loose on the starter n that was causing the spark, nipped that up got fuel lines connected properly just recharging battery now so should be good to go in a few hours, managed to get it to fire once before battery died from cranking fuel through, but she fired beautifully and held revs perfectly without choke from cold
