951 slow acceleration

Hi so recently I got a 1999 xp limited that’s wasn’t running and after fixing it, it has very slow acceleration. I rebuilt the carbs with genuine mikuni kits, set the pop offs at 21 psi and deleted the accelerator pump with 165 main and 95 low. 1 1/2 turns out for the low speed and 1/4 for the high. Stock air box and sea level. Cleaned the rave valves although I haven’t checked the solenoid to see if it’s working or replaced the lines for them. The low end seems to be the only thing affected, after the powerband hits it pulls very nicely and tops around 55 on somewhat choppy water. When racing against my friends gp760 it destroys my ski out of the hole. At wot it revs to about 4K quickly then very slowly to 5k until the powerband takes over. Also at wot it only gets up to about 6500 rpm’s on choppyish water. Running 40:1 premix xps. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like the ravs are not opening up...stuck,,etc...maybe a piston is melted...etc...pull them and go through them.

A 951 will suck the paint off a 760! It should even be close. Have you checked the spark plugs? It it running rich or lean?

Top end seems to be running a little lean if anything and haven’t checked the plugs on the low end but tried adjusting them from 1- 2.5 turns out with no avail. After pulling back the carbon ring boot there was a slight increase in the low end so that had something to do with it. The cone I have on the back is from a 97 gti and it fits and holds oil fine the cone itself is much smaller so that could have something to do with it, also the cone was switched to the smaller one at the same time as the carbon ring so the carbon ring may have fixed the problem and the cone worsened it. I have a new one on the way. I also have to check the compression on it as I haven’t done it yet, the dude I got it from was a mechanic and he said it had 125 in each cylinder seems a little low but I heard it was fine for these skis because if all the low end torque. Als the impeller seems a little dinged up but nothing crazy and on the thing right behind the impeller closer to the nozzle has a little chunk taken out of it and the whole rear nozzle assembly thing is corroded pretty badly from salt and is all pitted inside. Not sure if any of that stuff has to do with it. Also the ski slowly takes on water.
