looks like i might have to replace the vts motor...was wondering what a good replacement is for it...maybe aftermarket?...i have heard this might be a better way to go than OEM...thx

From what I have read, most people just put it in the center, then set it and forget it. Have you pulled the motor and inspected it? We had the same model and it was locked up when we got it. Pulled it out, took it apart, cleaned it and lubed it, then hooked it to a battery charger to test and it was alive!!!

I've also read that it is the same motor that operates electric windows. I don't know hoe generic they are, but I may have read one from a Nissan would work.

I need to replace the trim motor as well. Does anyone know the model and year of power window motors that work? Ski is a 96 gsx.

Thanks.

Guys keep in mind the motors fail, but the control module fails much more often. If you remove the motor plugs from the control unit harness (pop off the vts cover, the green and blue wires) and attach them to a battery, it should move in one direction. If you reverse the wires, it should move the other direction. (be careful not to exceed the movement limit of the mechanism- remove the motor if youre unsure- its only 4 nuts.)

With that said, you may just need a new module- they are pricey, but once you know what has actually failed then contact Nick (minnetonka4me) or any of the other parts guys on the forum for a good used unit.

Obviously if the motor doesnt spin, then you need a motor- but the questionable control module is still.... questionable.

I have noticed that the early models like the one in your 95 have an exposed position magnet in the sliding block.
They seem to rust away, & not operate the internal reed switches like they should. later years were sealed with epoxy.

The late 80's nissan stanza has the same window motor in it. Not a cheap motor though.....

My motor is definitely shot, rusted, so I need a new one. Not sure about the control module, will figure that out later. But even if the module is shot, there is a cheap fix with a relay.
