95 spx oil

I’m helping my buddy buy a 95 spx with the 657 and everything on the ski seems solid but the guy has Lucas oil in it instead of Sea-Doo spx mineral.. is it mandatory to change the oil completely out or would it be fine to keep using the Lucas? Thanks.

It depends on the Lucas. They do make one that is the correct API-TC rated.

Thank you. What if it’s just regular 2 stroke oil? Would just replacing the lines and filter be okay?

You need to drain the tank and the rotary valve cavity as well as changing the filter to change oil brands.

The oil has to be API-TC rated not TCW-3 or dual rated oils.

Yes. Seadoo makes a 2 cycle oil. I use it for my 96 SPX and have not had any problems. But I’m guessing you can find oil that is just as good for less.

I know that Sea-Doo makes oil since I use xps mineral in my 2000 gti but mikidymac said it can’t be TCW-3 and that’s what the xps oil is

That’s wrong. XPS oil isn’t TCW-2 or 3. It’s API-TC.
