Its a 95 gtx, 657x. I just rebuilt the carbs, replaced all fuel hose, replaced fuel valve and put in a brand new battery. I took it out for the first time today. It started at the house and at the pier and idled good for a minute or two then died. Started again and got about 100 yards, less than half throttle and died again. Would not go faster with more throttle. Tried to restart, it sounds like it fires a cylinder once in a while but not enough to restart or run. Pulled the plug wires and spark is really weak. Getting the MPEM out now to check what I can. Any advice for where I should look? Thanks for helping out.

I would start by using a spark tester to test the spark. I would then work my way through the ignition circuit.

This may help. Here is what the manual says to look at when troubleshooting a weak spark condition.

1. Foul, defective, work spark plugs
2. Faulty Rev limiter or ignition
3. Sheared flywheel key.

red...did you replace the n/s spring, when rebuild'n the carbs, IF so, then re-install the oem ones. Clip your plug wires back 1/4in at boots's end, and install new plugs.

I tried the old plugs and new ones, i pulled the computer and all the circuits (including rev limiter and ignition) checked ok (does not mean it is 100% though), and clipped the wires. I don't understand what difference the spring makes because it is getting fuel fine but when you watch the spark it is barely there and sometimes not at all. I am going to pull the cover and check the flywheel next but I just want to get it running and get rid of it, its not worth all the time I have spent searching for the problem.

if you installed the wrong gram spring, it'll load up the cylinders with fuel. wont cause a week spark though. Unplug the black/red wire at butt connector inside the ebox, see if spark is there/fire it up.
