8 tooth vs. 9 tooth starter bendix

My 97 SPX 787 has a bad 8 tooth bendix, I cannot find a 8 tooth anywhere, only 9 tooth's. I can find the 8 tooth ones on the cheapo new starters, anyone know where I can find the 8T? Id rather not get the 9T unless I really have to.

Buy the 9 tooth. Only difference is it will spin the engine over quicker=faster start up. Or if you really want the 8 tooth, swap the bendix's

As the saying goes you get what you pay for... but I've clean snapped the pinion shaft of an aqua torque starter in half (9 tooth) and I've heard/seen slot of others online saying the same about SBT advice from the gurus is if you can, buy and rebuild an OEM denso starter I couldn't find one and I'm in the uk so new OEM would cost me £250/300 or $375/450 so I went with an aftermarket one from psykho sports, I'd not heard of them but if aqua torque and SBT snap it was worth a try n so far seems good and that cost me £100/$150

So in summary, if you can buy/rebuild OEM, if that's not an option get an aftermarket one but don't skimp too much on the price, as I first mentioned you get what you pay for

I know about the aftermarket starter, I was just talking about the bendix assy, either way found a rebuild kit AND aftermarket bendix for $35 for my OEM starter.
