787 RFI oil pump not closing with the throttle

The oil pump on my GSX RFI opens with the throttle but remains open when the throttle is released, almost like a spring is missing. I had the engine out this is my last hurdle I hope. Anyone have an idea what I have going on. Thanks

If the spring it there you probably wound the arm in the wrong direction when installing the able so there is no return tension on it.

Is the spring on the throttle body? I need to look at that didn't think it could be wound backwards

No, it's on the oil pump. If you turn the oil pump arm the wrong way the spring will disengage and not close the arm.

Seems the spring in the pump must be broken, it remain where you put it with no spring action

I rotated both directions with no resistance

I didn't see any spring on the pump, could it have been install without the sping
